Landsend saturday deathwish open.

SATURDAY 28th FEBUARY 2010

Breakfast at lillypool cafe 2 poached eggs on toast with two well done bacon mmmmm followed by a quality nobble with Scouse,Shrimpead, nicky and Victor meldrew (A Oram) all chattin s**t as usuall then onto landsend in the bluebus. With myself, shimpead and nicky travelling together the topic of conversation never differs as someone always gets the piss ripped into them and this time it was my turn. NICK"What if we crashed now doin this speed,we'd disintergrate SHRIMPEAD "yeah they'd only be able to recognise us via dental records,it would sound something like this. two white males between 30 and 35 and a SHIRE HORSE,very quick shrimpdog I'll give you that one.
At the fishery there were 15 booked in so one bank of specimen 33 to 40 and the rest on match lake. Is it me or is Mike Duckett lookin more and more like Charles Bronson what with the moustache and tinted bins, (lookin good Miseur duquet)or maybe its magnum P.I ahh what ever it defo looks better than whe he had that ginger mop.
Ive been struggling a bit of late in the drawbag so was surprised to pull peg 33 in the corner of speci, not that its a flyer or anything lol. For company I had the silver supremo on 34 who blagged a few rigs, dont look like I'll ever get them back.
Only 2 rigs todays as at the moment its an out and out carp peg, first one a 4x14 float on 0.14 to a 18 xedion hook for the deep water at 16m on the corn and pellet @ 12 and 2 o'clock and the second a 4x12 float on 0.14 to a 18 B911 for fishing soft and banded pellet up the shelf to my left in 3ft of water @ 14.5 and 16m.
At the all in I put in half a drennan 150mm pot of micro & corn @ 16m twelve oclock, and the same amount of 4mm pellet and corn @ 16m two oclock, I also catapulted 4mm pellets up the left hand edge for later. Just to point out nobody was on the opposite bank and past experience told me and Nick that things could be a little bit slow as the fish have somewhere to back off too. Out at 16m on the corn and I was getting a few indications but put this down to roach and after 20 mins myself and Nick were still fishless. On the half hour mark I had a liner then a proper bite and carp number 1 was in the net,I refed this line with a kinder pot and moved to the 2 oclock line and caught an f1 straight away. I repeated the kinder potting process over the 2 deep lines and manage to keep odd carp and silvers coming while still catapulting 4mls over my left hand margin.Nick on 34 up till this point didnt even have a sniff of a carp and was struggling so changed tactics and started picking up a few decent perch long on the caster where he inevitably trashed two of the rigs I give him on the bush opposite so no I wont be gettin them back. At the halfway stage Id got 2 carp, 2 f1s,1 chub and a couple of skimmers and thought a look up the left hand edge was in order where id been flicking 4mls. On went a soft pellet and first put in I lost a carp so in again and nothing so decided to keep pinging pellets there and go back on the deep lines. It was confirmed, the fish had backed off into pegs 32 and 31 opposite as you could see them rolling there so it was gonna be a case of nicking a few here and there. On with a soft pellet this time @ 16m and a 1.5lb skimmer followed by a 2.5 pounder and a 5lb carp, cracked it I thought only for the fish to back off again. 2 hours to go and another look down the L/H margin with banded 6mm this time, the float buried and carp number 4 was in the net. Continuing to catapult 4mls down the edge I managed another 2 before it died and reverted back to the deep lines.
By this stage Nicholas had thrown approximately 5 proper tantrums after having a nightmare start but was starting to sort his s**t out and was catching roach and a few better fish @ 5m on the caster. The 2 oclock line had completely died so it was back on the corn at 12 oclock where I had 2 carp in two putins then nothin again.A move back down the edge bought 1 more carp before the all out,so a total of 9 carp and approx 15lb of silvers, much needed after how Ive been drawing and fishing lately.Matty Tomes on Peg 19 (most consistent peg all season) was again beat by his nemasis Martin lenaghon on peg 16 (most consistent winter peg ) by a mear pound, you'll get him one day shrimpdog millionair you mark my words.
